Khutwa — A Step Forward

Based in Paris with roots in Iraq, Khutwa makes straightforward clothes built to be worn often. We focus on clear fits, honest fabrics, and details that hold up to daily life. Our pieces are meant to move with you—from commute to dinner, from one city to the next—without asking for special treatment.

Our Story

Khutwa (Arabic for "a step") started as a small studio in Paris. The name is literal: we tried to improve one thing at a time—fit, seam, fabric—until a garment felt right. The influence is Iraqi: family workshops, practical tailoring, clothes that serve the day without drama. Paris taught us discipline; Iraq taught us warmth. Together, they guide how we design and how we treat the people who help us make these clothes.

Each release is small and focused. We test fits on different bodies, adjust patterns, and keep what works. We partner with mills we can visit and workshops we know by name. If a fabric pills or a seam fails in testing, it doesn't ship. We prefer to prevent issues rather than fix them later.

Our Values

We release less and obsess more. People are paid fairly. Materials are chosen for use, not headlines. If we make a mistake, we say so and fix it. The goal is simple: clothes you reach for first.

Paris, France

Our design studio and pattern library live here. We prototype in-house, test wear daily, and work with nearby workshops for cutting and finishing.

Iraq — Heritage

Our roots shape our preference for honest textiles and practical fits. We revisit traditional cuts, keep what works, and adapt them for modern use.
